In 1947 The Muslims of the sub-continent witnessed a great upheaval in their political fortunes. The establishment of the state of Pakistan should have been a time when the honour and dignity of the Muslims should have been restored by the implementation of Shari'ah. But History has depicted a different picture, successive governments have come and gone, promising prosperity and security, but all have failed drastically. The failure has been a consequence of the implementation of Kufr (non-Islamic) ideas, such as Democracy and Capitalism and the absence of Islam as a comprehensive political system. Allah (SWT) says in the Qur' an "Corruption has manifested itself in the land and in the sea, by what man has made with his own hands" [EMQ 30:41].

Even the self appointed CE, General Pervez Musharaf has turned out to be no different from those who came before, still preaching the same western ideologies i.e. Capitalism and democracy. Allah (SWT) says, "Those who do not judge by whatever Allah has revealed are the Zalimoon, Fasiqoon, Kafiroon"[EMQ 5:44,45,47].

For over 75 years the Muslims all over the world have been living under western hegemony, without the Shari'ah applied upon them i.e. The Khilafah System. For that reason Al-Muhajiroun have understood that the vital issue for the Muslims is to return to Islam as their reference point and the establishment of the Khilafah. They have taken it upon themselves to fulfil the duty to work towards the establishment of the Khilafah wherever they are, the destruction of western imperialism and the domination of Islam worldwide.

On 24th November 1999 Al Muhajiroun hosted a press conference for the Muslims of Pakistan and the Pakistani media at the Lahore Press Club. The conference titled, "Pakistan: The unfulfilled promise" was aimed at dispelling many non-Islamic ideas, which are prevalent in the minds of many Muslims today and an introduction to the aims and objectives of Al-Muhajiroun. The theme targeted the inevitable future of Pakistan and the responsibility of the Muslims living in this country. Various media personalities and the general Muslims of Pakistan attended the Press conference.

The following is a summary of the speeches delivered to the audience by the Al-Muhajiroun members:

Adeel Shahid the Leader of Al-Muhajiroun in Pakistan introduced the organisation and the speakers, his opening comments clarified the aims and objectives of Al-Muhajiroun worldwide and the obligation of every Muslim to work towards establishing the Khilafah. The opening speech delivered by Mohammed Sultan highlighted the illegitimacy, history and the hypocrisy of democracy. The speech made clear that democracy has no legitimacy in Islam and that it was an idea developed from the notion of secularism i.e. detaching religion from life's affairs.

The second speech delivered by Omar Brookes exposed the corruption of world institutions such as the United Nations, IMF and World Bank, which are merely tools used for western imperialism under the guise of Peace and Humanitarian intervention, used to enslave and oppress the masses. This is translated in action by the hegemony of the US foreign policy. It was further explained how the founding roots of the United Nations were built upon the European Empire system.

Sajid Sharif, the third speaker expounded upon the Intellectual leadership of Islam explaining how any nation based upon Nationalism, patriotism and manmade law is doomed to failure. He explained how every Muslim should base his actions whether spiritual or political according to the Qur'an and the teachings of the final messenger Muhammad (saw).

The last and final speaker, Abdur Rehman spoke about Khilafah being the only solution for Pakistan. He highlighted how the problems of Pakistan are due to the non-implementation of Islam and not solely due to the individual leaders. He further elaborated on the responsibilities of the existing political movements in Pakistan, but most importantly the army with respect to the implementation of the Khilafah. He also called for the unity of Afghanistan and Pakistan as one nation being a pre cursor for greater unity. He concluded by demanding that the CE, Musharaf to take immediate action to implement Islam and if not, make ready to face the same consequences, as of the previous PM, Nawaz Sharif.
